Don’t wait to catch the last fall color

It is reported that fishing success on the Bois Brule River has been slow lately, but the fish being caught are nice “hefty” fish.
As a reminder, the four-day antlerless-only deer hunting season began Thursday and runs through Sunday. This gun season is not in effect for most of northern Wisconsin as it only takes place in Herd Control and CWD units, which make up approximately half of the units in the state. For designations, see the deer season structure map in the deer regulations booklet.
Another thing to keep in mind is the doe tags that come with your gun deer license this year are for Herd Control and Earn-a-Buck units only. Most of the northern third of the state is not in Herd Control this year. Unit specific tags will have to be purchased separately.
As of Wednesday, Unit 1 has 1,024 antlerless tags, Unit 2 has 6,675, Unit 3 has 610, Unit 4 has none, Unit 6 has 5,320, Unit 8 has 1,272, Unit 9 has 4,085 and Unit 13 has 2,668 tags.
