Rep. Nick Milroy, D-Superior, welcomed Assembly Majority Leader Tom Nelson, D-Kaukauna and Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel to the 73rd Assembly District on Monday to tour three local businesses.
The three made stops at Midwest Energy, Enbridge Energy and Murphy Oil.
“It is critical that leaders in Madison understand the issues facing employers and working families in this part of the state,” Milroy said. “Today’s tour was helpful in exploring how the state can build a stronger partnership with area businesses and create new jobs.”
The three businesses are key employers in northwestern Wisconsin. Each company supports the region’s important energy transportation network critical for sustaining area jobs and supporting the state economy.
During the tour, Leinenkugel, Milroy and Nelson talked with employees and managers about challenges facing their businesses.
“In today’s challenging economy, it is important to hear directly from businesses on what issues are impacting them most,” Nelson said. “I thank Representative Milroy for his leadership in Madison, where he has been a tireless advocate for job creation and retention.”
Milroy said he appreciates the effort by the assembly majority leader and commerce secretary in meeting with the businesses.
“I am honored that Majority Leader Nelson and Secretary Leinenkugel took time out of their schedules to see the good work being done by northwestern Wisconsin businesses,” Milroy said. “While there is still a difficult road ahead of us, I am committed to getting our economy back on track.”
