The Superior Police Department is distributing free Project ChildSafe Firearm Safety Kits during a safety fair 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior.
By partnering with Project ChildSafe, the Superior Police Department is participating in a national effort to promote firearms safety education to all gun owners. Project ChildSafe will distribute gun lock safety kits to all 50 states and the five U.S. territories.
During the carnival, members of the police department will be on hand to conduct car seat checks for those who want to make sure their car seat is properly installed. A police bike and gear will be on display in an effort to encourage kids to wear their helmets when bicycling. Free Child ID kits will be available to parents to bring home and prepare with their children.
WITC-Superior will be giving away two youth bike helmets and a child booster seat in a drawing during the carnival. Refreshments will be served.
Continuing Education classes on handgun and rifle usage and safety are being offered this fall at WITC-Superior, taught by Superior Police Officer Patrick Carey. For more information log on to witc.edu/search or call 715-394-6677 ext 6269.
