Public comments sought on Whitefish Lake access renovation
On or about September 8, the Department of Natural Resources proposes to renovate the public boat access on Whitefish Lake in Douglas County.
This project will bring the access up to federal standards with a cement walkway to the restrooms and boarding dock, and help prevent stormwater run off that now goes into the lake. A rain garden will be put in to handle runoff associated with construction and future precipitation.
Proposed renovations will include a new black top parking lot, launch ramp, sidewalk to the toilet building and boarding dock.
Funding for the project comes from the Sport Fish Restoration (SFR)grant program. SFR is a Federal grant program that is used to renovate and develop motorboat access sites in Wisconsin.
Prior to finalizing construction plans, DNR is requesting public comment on the project. Comments can be made within the next 30 days and sent to: Joel Weinert, 10220N State Highway 27 S., Hayward, WI 54843.
Weinert can also be reach by phone at (715) 634-9658 ext.3520.
