Saturday, Duluth: A book launch for “Boo Boo Bear’s Mission” by Mary Linda Sather of Duluth, runs 2-4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Social Hall, 835 W. College St. The book tells the story of her granddaughter’s teddy bear that travels to Iraq to carry a family’s love until they can be together again. Sather’s granddaughter of Lake Nebagamon sent her teddy bear to her dad while he was serving his second tour of duty.

Tuesday, Duluth: The CHUM Community celebrates 36 years of “working together to provide basic necessities, foster stable lives and organize for a just and compassionate community” 6-8 p.m. on First Avenue West between First and Second streets during the All Chum Street Fest. Food served 6-7 p.m.

Night out

Tuesday, Superior: Bartley Manor and Woodland Way Townhomes presents the second annual National Night Out and community picnic 4-6 p.m. at 3920 Tower Ave. The event includes refreshments, drawings, a magic show, children’s moonwalk, “Bring the Noise Entertainment” and visits by the Superior fire and police departments.

Tuesday, Superior: Superior Moose 606 Family Center hosts a community ice cream social 6-8 p.m. Build your own sundae. Free to members.

Outdoors

Saturday, Superior: At 3 p.m., the Compass Geocache with Pattison Park naturalist Jim Craig orients on the treasure. Limit 10 people; sign up at park office. At 7 p.m., he shares the story behind Pattison Park, Martin Pattison and Camp Pattison, and the Civilian Conservation Corp. Programs are free, but a park admission sticker is required. Pattison State Park is 12 miles south of Superior on State Highway 35. Call 399-3111.

Auction

Wednesday, Duluth: The community is invited to attend the annual Take Time for Kids live and silent auction from 6-8:30 p.m. in the great hall of the Depot. The event benefits kids and families in crisis who are served by the LSS Bethany Crisis Nursery. Admission $25. For information call Lynn Shubitz at (218) 626-3083.

Presentation

Tuesday, Superior: 2-3 p.m. in the Library classroom: Follow Your Dream and Tell Your Story, a presentation by Susan K. Carnes, author of “My Champion.” All ages welcome. Refreshments by the Friends of the Library.
