Bayfield woman who climbed 7 summits to get party

Celebration is Tuesday evening

BAYFIELD (AP) — A Bayfield woman with multiple sclerosis who has climbed the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents will get a welcome back celebration in northwestern Wisconsin.

Lori Schneider reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 23, completing all of the Seven Summits.

The 52-year-old retired school teacher is believed to be the first woman with the neurological disease to climb each peak.

The celebration Tuesday evening will include a parade, a potluck party featuring a proclamation by Bayfield Mayor Larry MacDonald, music and summit photos.

MacDonald says Schneider provides inspiration and energy to everyone who hears about her achievements.
