The season came to an end Thursday for the Superior High School softball team in a WIAA regional playoff game with Chippewa Falls. The Spartans were up 3-2 going into the seventh inning, but Chippewa Falls scored one run on a double and another on an error to win 3-4.
Chippewa Falls had scored one run in the second and one in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead before Superior came back with three runs in the sixth to take the lead.
Aleeah Baker and Alayna Moe led off with singles to get on base. Taylor Thompson then reached on an error that allowed Baker to score the Spartans’ first run of the game. Both Moe and Thompson would also come home on a two-RBI double from Cassy O’Neill.
Superior couldn’t hold off Chippewa Falls in the final inning, however, and suffered the 3-4 loss.
Aleeah Baker took the pitching loss for Superior, striking out three and walking two while allowing five hits and two earned runs.
