The Solon Springs baseball team fell to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the Indianhead Conference with a pair of losses to Ironwood Tuesday evening in Solon Springs. Ironwood swept the twinbill by scores of 5-3 and 11-0.
Ironwood scored twice in the second inning and single runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings in the opener.
The Eagles scored once in the third inning and twice in the fifth.
“We played with a little more intensity and that kept us in the game,” SSHS coach Nate Ahlberg said. “We left the bases loaded in third and fourth innings. A base hit during those innings changes the game. Both pitchers did a nice job throwing strikes.”
Tyler LaRose pitched for Solon Springs, allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts and two walks in six innings.
Alex Rowe hit a home run and scored twice and Josh Taylor had a hit and runs scored for the Eagles.
Ironwood got two solo home runs from Erickson and two hits from Stephens.
In game two, Nick Skaggs took the loss, giving up six earned runs.
Bryan Crum doubled and Taylor singled for the Eagles, who hosted Mellen Thursday.
Solon Springs hosts Washburn at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
