He was born on May 23, 1984 in Duluth to G. Morley “Skip” and Julie (Mabry) Smith III and was a longtime Superior resident having lived in Duluth for the past year.
He graduated from Superior High School and went on to receive a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He was a standout basketball player at both schools.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and fish, especially ice fishing on Lake Superior. He also made custom fly rods.
Buck was employed in the warehouse of Saratoga Liquor.
He married Jennifer Titlbach on Feb. 17, 2007, in Prairie du Chien, Wis.
In addition to his wife, Buck is survived by his parents, G. Morley “Skip” and Julie Smith III Superior; two sisters, Leah (Troy) Broskovetz, Lyneham, England, Rachel (Seth Womack) Smith, Alexandria, La.; five nieces and nephews, Veronica, Benjamin and William Broskovetz, Kennedy and Cullen McShane, aunts and uncles, Rosy and Don Beetcher, Tucson, Ariz., Bruce and Doreen Smith, Barnes, Mark and Nancy Smith, Superior, and other relatives.
There was a visitation held at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home. Services were held on Wednesday, May 6 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Kinney of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Solon Springs as celebrant.
Pallbearers for the service were Rollie Flint, Jim Lund, Eric Leland, Matt Flynn, Stephanie “Pepper” Stariha and Kathleen Duffy.
Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship in Buck’s name for a high school basketball player at Superior High School and can be sent in care of Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior, WI 54880.
