Yellowjackets split twinbill with Falcons

The University of Wisconsin-Superior softball team split a home doubleheader with the UW-River Falls Falcons Tuesday afternoon at the Superior Women’s Field.

The University of Wisconsin-Superior softball team split a home doubleheader with the UW-River Falls Falcons Tuesday afternoon at the Superior Women’s Field.

UWS won the opener 16-7 in five innings, but dropped the finale 8-0.

Former Superior Spartan Ashley Martin was 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs for UWS in the opener. Becky Crane also added a pair of hits for the Yellowjackets, now 10-10 overall and 1-5 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

UWS is at UW-Whitewater Saturday and UW-Stevens Point Sunday.

Baseball loses

The UWS baseball team lost 13-10 to Augsburg Tuesday afternoon at Northwestern’s Reynolds Field.

Sean Cummings led the Yellowjackets, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Matt Kohn also had two hits and four RBIs, Paul Schlangen had three hits and Mike Labelle had two hits.
