BASEBALL: Northwood rallies past Solon SpringsEvergreens overcome Eagles' seven-run first inning
The Northwood Evergreens took advantage of seven Solon Springs errors and defeated the Eagles 11-7 Thursday evening in Solon Springs.
Northwood jumped out to 3-0 lead in the top of the first before Solon Springs scored all of its runs in the bottom of the same frame.
The big hit for the Eagles was Tyler LaRose’s three run double.
The Evergreens slowly got back into the game and eventually passed the Eagles with single runs in the third and fourth innings, three run in the fifth, two in the second and one more in the seventh.
Northwood had six hits. Brad Ross doubled and scored a run and Reese Stariha had a hit and scored four times.
Beside’s LaRose’s big hit, the Eagles got a hit, RBI and run from Alex Rowe and a hit and run scored from Cole Klinzing.
“We played much better than on Monday at Shell Lake,” SSHS coach Nathan Ahlberg said. “LaRose also pitched well, but we have to have to cut way down on our errors if we’re going to be successful this year.”
The Eagles (0-2) are at Luck on Monday and Frederic on Friday.
The Evergreens are at Siren Monday, Frederic Tuesday, host Clear Lake Thursday before hosting their own tournament on April. 18.
