The Pete’s Tower Mobile team took the Class A team honors in the Superior Area Women’s Bowling Association Handicap Tournament with a count of 2,844 (345). Team members and their scores were Mary Lee Johnson, 520; Kathleen Larson, 455; Darla McDonald, 504; Darlene Rochon, 493; and Connie Buchanan, 537. The doubles championship went to Kathy Hanson and Faye Mencel at 1,210 (90), and the singles champ was Janice Carlson at 657 (42). (1982)
Steve Olson, assistant baseball coach and a graduate student in physical education, has been named sports information director at the UW-Superior. Olson, who received his bachelor’s degree at UWS at the end of the winter quarter, was a four-year letterwinner in baseball, served as team co-captain in his junior and senior years and was named to the Wisconsin State University All-Conference team as a shortstop in 1976 and 1978.
