Len Albrecht

Age: 48

Residence: Town of Superior

Family: Wife, Annette; son, Jake (2008 SHS graduate and now attending UMD); daughter, Catie (freshman at SHS).

Education: Graduated from Coleman High School 1978, graduated from UW-Stout 1986 with a BS in industrial technology.

Work history: Field engineer 1986-1989 (for Cherne Contracting); branch manager for Azco Hennes Inc. in Milwaukee office 1990-1994; project manager for Lakehead Constructors Inc. 1994-present.

Civic/political experience: Member of Superior Soccer Association Board for 6 years and president of same for three years; has coached youth soccer the last 12 years; served on the Bryant Site Council for 2 years; on the Superior school board the last 9 years and president the past 2 years.

Bonnie L. Baker

Age: 59

Residence: Raised in Duluth; resided in Superior 17 years.

Family: Husband Phil, son Greg, step-daughters Sunny and Dana, five step grand-children (three attend Superior schools); three cats and one dog.

Education: Bachelors degree in speech pathology and audiology from UMD (1971), masters degree in communicative disorders from UMD (1978).

Work history: 35 years as a speech/language special educator in the Superior schools (1971-2006).

Civic/political experience: Superior Singers member; DSSO Chorus member; Duluth Playhouse and Renegade Theatre actor; current president of Friends of the Superior Public Library and newsletter editor; Superior Area Retired Educators Association member and program committee member; Duluth Central Class of ’67 Reunion chairperson; Clef Society member; Port Town Cities Woman of the Year planning committee; member of MENSA, appointed to Superior school board in November 2008.

Joshua Christie

Age: 29

Residence: Oliver

Family: Single

Education: Superior Senior High School 1997; University of Minnesota Duluth; Vaxjo Universitet, Sweden; Hawai’i Pacific University.

Work history: Department Homeland Security, 2005-present.

Civic/political experience: First run for office.

Rev. Curt Vanderstelt

Age: 36

Residence: 1701 E. Third S., Superior

Family: Wife, married 17 years; daughter, 6 years old

Education: Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill.; Reformed Bible College, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Calvin Seminary, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Center For Church Based Training, Minneapolis, Minn.; ordained, Evangelical Free Church of America, Minneapolis, Minn.

Work history: 17 years as youth pastor in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. Lead pastor, North Bay Community Church, Superior since February 2007.

Civic/political experience: High school and college soccer coach; amateur sports official for baseball, football, softball and soccer; while living in other communities served as a volunteer member of public school curriculum committees, Human Growth and Development committee, crisis counselor and substitute teacher; currently volunteers as a Superior-Douglas County Law Enforcement chaplain; has never held a elected public office before this experience.
