Community helps family after fire

David and Eunice Smith and their four children lost everything when their house in the village of Oliver burned March 14. They had no insurance.

Family, friends and neighbors are banding together to help. An account has been set up at Superior Choice Credit Union in the name of the David Smith family. A spaghetti dinner benefit is planned 4-7 p.m. April 25 in the Oliver Town Hall. And two drop-off sites are now available for residents who have clothing to donate — 3025 S. Chicago Ave. in Oliver and 532 N. 22nd Ave. in Superior.

The following items are needed:

• Dave wears pants size 30W x 30L, medium or large T-shirts, large sweatshirts and size 8 to 8 1/2 shoes.

• Eunice wears women’s 18 average pants, large or extra large T-shirts and sweatshirts and size 8 to 8 1/2 shoes.

• Jonathan wears size 30W x 32L pants, medium or large T-shirts and sweatshirts and shoes size 10 to 11.

• Allisa wears medium to large sweat pants, medium to large T-shirts and sweatshirts and size 8 1/2 to 9 shoes.

• Megan wears medium pants size 7 to 9, large women’s T-shirts, large or extra large sweatshirts and size 10 shoes.

• Matt wears size 38W x 32L pants, XXL T-shirts and sweatshirts and size 10 1/2 to 11 shoes.
