The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) seeks input from Wisconsin residents and businesses on broadband needs in the state.
By completing the Broadband Customer Survey at http://psc.wi.gov, consumers can help the PSC to identify where needs for broadband exist in unserved or underserved areas of the state.
Under the recently enacted federal American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), up to $7.2 billion is available across the nation for broadband improvement loans and grants from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Rural Utility Service (RUS).
The PSC anticipates that the NTIA and RUS will issue broadband guidelines sometime between April and June 2009. It is likely that the states will be asked to advise these federal agencies on where there are needs for broadband that could be helped through these loans and grants.
Taking the quick survey will help identify broadband needs in Wisconsin. Visit the PSC website at http://psc.wi.gov and fill out the Broadband Survey under Hot Topics. For more information, call (608) 266-6744.
