Herbert M. Mackie

Herbert M. Mackie, 78, Superior, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, in St. Francis Home in the Park. He was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Superior to Matthew and Catherine (Holka) Mackie and had formerly lived in the town of Cloverland.

Herbert M. Mackie, 78, Superior, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, in St. Francis Home in the Park. He was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Superior to Matthew and Catherine (Holka) Mackie and had formerly lived in the town of Cloverland.

He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Herbert was employed as a seaman on the Great Lakes for Pittsburgh Steel Shipping Company.

He is survived by three sisters, Kathryn Kukonen, White Bear Lake, Minn., Betty J. (Ron) Johnson, Green Bay, Alice Dhols, Columbia Heights, Minn.; one brother Allen Mackie, Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home Friday.

The Rev. Patrick Ziems, of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial will be in the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Maple.
