Joseph DeVogel, 78, Superior, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
He was born on March 28, 1930, in Superior to Alfonse and Lisa (Bogart) DeVogel.
He married Bernice Anderson on Jan. 22, 1960, in Minnesota and celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Joseph was employed as a wheelsman for Huron Cement Company for more than 50 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Eagles Club and he was an avid ice fisherman.
In addition to his wife Bernice, Joseph is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Patrick) Salus, Superior; two sons, Rod (Jackie) DeVogel, Superior and Tim (Mary) DeVogel, Beaver Dam, Wis.; six grandchildren, Amanda, Crystal, Kristin, Ashley, Melissa and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Peter and August; and two sisters, Marge and Angela.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Deacon Phil Runser of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
