Wendy Rae Rhodes

Wendy Rae Rhodes, 50, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, unexpectedly in her home.

She was born on June 6, 1958, in International Falls, Minn. to Dorand Gene and Pearl (Hanson) Bakken, Sr.

She graduated from high school in Superior. Wendy was a homemaker. She loved spending time with family and friends especially her granddaughters.

She loved the outdoors, she enjoyed camping and fishing and she liked football and was an avid San Francisco 49’ers fan.

Wendy is survived by one daughter, Misty Rae (Casey Satter) Veyhle, Duluth; one son, David Alan Gene Long, Duluth; husband Bill Rhodes, Superior; three sisters, Karen (Wayne) Rutzen, Barnes, Dorinda Janz, Gordon, Vicki (Duane Rolstad) Verso, Bennett; one brother, Scott (Bunny) Hanson, Tamarack, Minn.; two granddaughters, Mariah and Chloe Satter, Duluth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dorand and Ricky Bakken.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the noon memorial service on Friday in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Pam Fisher.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
