Cecilia Ronchi

Cecilia Ronchi, 93, longtime Amnicon resident, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on April 2, 1915, in Superior to Napoleon P. “Pat” and Gertrude (Lozon) Archambeault.

She graduated from the former Cathedral High School in 1933.

Cecilia was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Superior and enjoyed being a part of the “Kitchen Ladies.” She was instrumental in founding the Amnicon Senior Citizen’s Center, was also a member of the Amnicon Sunshine Club, the Amnicon Farmer’s Union and the Royal Neighbors. She was a former member of the Superior Women Bowlers Association.

Cecilia had previously owned and operated a family farm with her husband Alex for many years and also the sole proprietor of a very successful catering business.

Cecilia is survived by three sons, Arthur (Betty) Amys, Superior, Ronald Amys, Franklin, Wis., Jerry (Shelly) Amys, Poplar; two sisters, Bernadette Amys, Superior; Adele Archambeault, Superior; two brothers, Lawrence (Lorraine) Archambeault, Superior, Harold Becker, Superior; 20 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Caesar Amys; second husband, Alex Ronchi; two sons, Herbert and Dale Amys; one granddaughter, Dawn Erickson; two sisters, Marcella Parenteau and Katherine Benson; and five brothers, Napolean “Nap” Archambeault, Raymond Archambeau, Jerry Archambeau, William Archambeault and Bernard Archambeau.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the noon Mass of Christian burial on Saturday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Superior with the Rev. Edwin Anderson as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Gary, Jerry, Aaron, Randy, Art and Rick Amys.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
