Esther S. Anderson, 92, of Iron River, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn.

Esther S. Anderson, 92, of Iron River, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn.

She was born Oct 15, 1915, in Brule, the daughter of Richard and Lydia Wentela.

On Sept. 30, 1933, she married Fred A. Anderson in Duluth. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a lifelong resident of the Iron River area. Esther was a co-founder, charter member and an active member of the current Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iron River.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly (Ed) Denman of Hot Springs Village, Ariz. and Darlene (Bryan) Engstrom of Neenah, Wis.; a son, Dale (Shelley) Anderson of Spencer, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Crystal (Holly) Nelson of Grand Marais; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger F. Anderson; her parents; four sisters; three brothers; and other relatives.

The funeral service is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iron River. Visitation is from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will take place in the Iron River Cemetery at a later date.

Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn and the wonderful home health caregivers.
