The talk of a little mid-October snow is shaking a few people up and making others, like snowmobilers, salivate. The odds and accumulations we face today and Monday probably won’t do too much to please either group.
Because of a migrating low-pressure system, we have a region-wide 60 percent chance for a rain-and-snow mix today.
If the snow tries to stick, we could end up with an inch or two. Factors working against that happening include surface temperatures from 38-42. The wind will be south-southeast at 5-10 mph.
The chance for another 1-2 inches of snow will come on Monday and have better odds of sticking. Highs will be only 32-37.
By Tuesday, a high-pressure cell will take over and force any precipitation chances way down. The extra sunlight it allows in will push high temperatures back to 40 or so for several days.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance for a rain-snow mix. High: 40. Low: 23.
Monday Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance for light snow. High: 34. Low: 23.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. High: 39. Low: 25.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy. High: 37. Low: 26.
Thursday: Partly cloudy. High: 41. Low: 27.
