Lila J. Connolly, mental health coordinator for Douglas County Health and Human Services, was among 10 people honored with the Champions in Women’s Health Award.
Connolly, a native of Duluth, received the honor for her work in mental health. She has worked in the human services field for over 29 years serving people with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, alcohol and substance use disorders, and children and families facing abuse and neglect. Her most recent work with the county has allowed her to remove barriers and increase successful outcomes for women going through the alcohol and substance treatment.
She applied for and received state funding for a specialized women’s substance abuse treatment program designed to provide innovative case management services for women. Connolly focused on connecting women with community resources and improving their access to health care. Her primary focus is to help women identify and achieve personal goals and improve their quality of life.
The awards ceremonies were held on May 1 in Madison.
