Loretta was born in Duluth Dec. 17, 1911, the daughter of Anna (Lossman) and Richard Mueller.
She was a graduate of Gordon High School and in 1928, she graduated from the Duluth Business University, having taken the executive secretarial course. She attended Superior Vocational School at night and had also taken courses at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. For more than 50 years, she worked as an executive secretary, having worked for a Duluth Manufacturing Company, a Duluth law firm, the Superior Water, Light & Power Co., the city of Superior and the University of Wisconsin Education Department.
Loretta was a member of Hope Congregational Church, a life member of Zenith Chapter No. 25 Order of the Eastern Star in Duluth and a life member of the Billings Park Civic Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George I. in May of 1978; two brothers, Frederick and Raymond Mueller; and brother-in-law and sister-in law, Carl and Signe Larson.
Loretta is survived by a step-son, Vernon (Cathy) Larson of Las Vegas, Nev.; five step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Richard Larson of San Antonio, Texas, and David (Kathy) Mueller of Luck, Wis.; two nieces, Carol Reasbeck of Superior and Marie Larson of Iron River; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Her graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Graceland Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Casperson, pastor of Hope Congregational Church, officiating.
If desired, memorials in Loretta’s name may be made to Hope Congregational Church, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Charles Martin, Merwin Kinnee and Jeff Reasbeck.
