Douglas County agencies awarded grants
The Douglas County FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Committee has awarded grants to six not-for-profit agencies in Douglas County to provide funding for emergency food and shelter.
The Douglas County FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Committee has awarded grants to six not-for-profit agencies in Douglas County to provide funding for emergency food and shelter.
The awards this year include a small increase from 2006 funding levels and must be expended to relieve a crisis in food, shelter, or loss of housing. People living in Douglas County must receive the aid.
Funding for 2007 was granted to:
• Salvation Army, $9,259 for emergency food.
• Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse $2,600 for emergency food.
• Faith United Methodist Church, $4,400 for emergency shelter and emergency food
• Northwest Wisconsin Community Services Agency, $4,200 for emergency shelter and emergency food
• Rural Care and Share Food Shelf, Poplar, $2,200 for emergency food, and Catholic Community Services Housing Counseling Program $3,817 for emergency assistance to households facing eviction or foreclosure.
