Helen S. Johnson, 103, a lifelong Superior resident, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Helen S. Johnson, 103, a lifelong Superior resident, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Superior May 22, 1904, to Axel and Elna Peterson. Helen graduated from Superior Central High School.

She worked as a ticket seller at the Princess Theatre and at the Head of the Lakes Fair. She operated a popcorn wagon in Duluth, drove taxi cab during World War II and co-managed the Nemadji Trailer Park and store.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, and a nephew, George Benson Jr.

Helen is survived by nieces, Jean (Milton) Schroeder, Superior, and Gilda Ferodewill, Alma, Wis.; and two nephews, Bill (Joan) Salveson, Solon Springs and Jim (Jean) Peterson, Kirkwood, Mo.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home.
