LETTER: Olson seeks District 1 support

My name is Dan Olson and I am running for City Council in District 1.

To The Telegram:

My name is Dan Olson and I am running for City Council in District 1, which includes South Superior, Butler Park, Homecroft Trailer Park, a small area behind Tower Plumbing, an area behind the Dairy Queen and So Sure Car Wash, and south of 58th St by the Nemadji Golf Course.

My vision of being your councilor would be to listen to all of your concerns. My drive of being your councilor would be to continue to pursue a project or issue even if I was told it can't be done or there is nowhere else to look for outside funding. The three of us challenging council candidates have evidently made an impact on this election with the mayor asking for the voters to vote for his supported Quick, Norbie and Dalbec candidates. I don't approve of Mayor Ross using his title to ask for support for a candidate without asking me what I could bring to the council or what my ideas to help not only the people of District 1 but the city of Superior itself.

My campaign has been based on nothing but positive partnership with the city to help bring jobs to this community, offer suggestions on how to secure outside funding for the storm water utility through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and to listen to a very important traffic control signal where people are crossing Tower Avenue dangerously on a daily basis.

We need to bring our city together not divide it. We are on the threshold of a major supply and demand economic developement with the possibility of the Murphy Oil expansion, the furthering education facilities at UWS, and the much needed expansion of Belknap Street and the South Tower corridor. Currently we have almost 100 percent of occupied storefronts in South End and I would work to keep it that way.

On Tuesday, I want your vote and I want you to be confident that you will have elected a councilor that will work for you year round and be available whenever you need me to be.

- Dan Olson,

Superior
