A tornado watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for much of Northwestern Wisconsin.
The National Weather Service has issued the watch for Ashland, Iron, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties. It extends southward to cover much of central and western Wisconsin.
There is a risk of thunderstorms across all of the Northland this afternoon and evening. Storms in the watch area may become severe, with the potential for damaging winds, large hail and possibly tornadoes.
Across the rest of the region, storms may bring small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain.
