Richard R. Wickstrom, 78, Urbana, Ill., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Helia Healthcare Center, Champaign, Ill.
Richard R. Wickstrom, 78, Urbana, Ill., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Helia Healthcare Center, Champaign, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Wesleyan Church, Urbana. The Rev. Derrick Ford will officiate. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Sidney, Ill.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.
Mr. Wickstrom was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Superior, the son of Clifford and Isabel Quelch Wickstrom. He married Betty Esterholm on Jan. 12, 1952, in Superior; she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Cheryl Hutton of Urbana; brothers and sisters Nadine Gordon of Duluth, Caroline Little, Beverly (Frank) Goteleare, James (Marilyn) Wickstrom, Diane (Charles) Heytens and Linda Darnall, all of Superior; two grandsons, Daniel (Aerika) Hutton of Rantoul, Ill., and Robert Hutton III (Betty) of Tolono, Ill.; two granddaughters, Tammy (David) Ackley and Jennifer (Jamie) Bowling of Wisconsin; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Valerie McDermott.
Mr. Wickstrom retired as a store room manager for Diamond Tool and Horseshoe in Duluth.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a Golden Gloves winner while serving in the military.
He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, Urbana, and troop leader for the Boy Scouts, very active in child evangelism, and a licensed lay minister serving various nursing homes. He was an avid outdoorsman.
