Winter trails close for season

The Douglas County Forestry Department is closing snowmobile/winter ATV trails for the season.

The Douglas County Forestry Department is closing snowmobile/winter ATV trails for the season. But most winter rec trails under management of the Douglas County Forestry Department still remain open.

The trails that have been closed are Trail 0, Trail 28 and that portion of Trail 2 north of Highway 105 eastward to the Tri-County Corridor, and the portion of the Osaugie Trail northwest of Loon’s Foot Landing.

The remainder will be closed at 12:01 a.m. Monday. Also, all year-round trails are temporarily closed as of 12:01 a.m., Monday, except for:

• Gandy Dancer Trail — Minnesota/Wisconsin stateline to Patzau.

• Saunders Grade — Minnesota/Wisconsin Stateline to Schallameir Road parking lot.

• Wild Rivers Trail — Douglas County/Washburn County line to County Highway Y.

• Wild Rivers Trail — North Trailhead parking lot (County Highway A) to the Harroun Road.

Those year-round trail segments that are closed will be re-opened as soon as conditions warrant. For more information, call the Douglas County Forestry Department at (715) 378-2219.
