Taking to heart the Hillary Clinton quote, “It takes a village to raise a child,” local groups are hosting a community event to help parents.
The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse and The Family Resource Center of Douglas County are teaming up to offer “Tools for Parenting,” a free event 6-8 p.m. April 3.
The event offers workshops, information and an opportunity to network with other community parents. Workshop sessions include Internet safety, teen dating, healthy discipline, recognizing strengths, making chores fun, and raising relatives’ children.
Child care provided, but parents are asked to call ahead and register with CASDA at 392-3136.
“Tools for Parenting” is presented as part of the nationally recognized Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.
In Douglas County alone, 400-500 investigations are initiated annually regarding child maltreatment.
