Three Spartans were named to the boys basketball Lake Superior All-Conference team this year.
Dustin Ritchie and Keegan O’Neill were named to the first team and Ryan Radzak was named to the second team. All three players were seniors on this year’s team.
“All three of these players were so deserving of their All-Conference selections,” SHS coach Dave Kontny said. “They worked so hard in the offseason to ensure their senior year would be successful. Each of them complimented each other with their defense, shooting and ability to take the ball to the basket.
“Our 10-0 conference run this season and our 19-1 conference run over their two seasons on the varsity can be attributed to their overall hard work, togetherness, unselfishness and their commitment to teamwork.”
Kontny said filling the seniors’ places will be challenging, but he was grateful for what they added to the team.
“Losing three great seniors like them is not easy,” Kontny said, “but what they have done for our program will only carry over into the season’s to come as all three possessed the leadership qualities that every program needs to be successful.”
