Marlys June Greely, 70, Gordon, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation in Hawthorne, surrounded by her family.

Marlys June Greely, 70, Gordon, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation in Hawthorne, surrounded by her family.

Marlys was born June 1, 1937, in Frederic, to the late Vivian A. and Lillian H. (Lind) Chell.

Marlys retired in 1997 from the Northwood School in Minong, where she was a special education teacher for 20 years. She also taught six years at the Solon Springs School and three years at the Hermantown (Minn.) School. She enjoyed playing cards on Tuesdays with her friends and playing games with her grandchildren. Marlys traveled to Hong Kong, Hawaii, Nashville, Tenn., Europe, Sweden, just to name a few. In her spare time she loved watching NASCAR and Green Bay Packers games.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her life companion, Ronald Tuverson of Gordon; two sons, Scott R. (Cathy) Greely and Bradley A. (Cindy) Greely, both of South Range; two brothers, Ronald J. (Gloria) Chell and Rodney L. (Marilyn) Chell, both of Frederic; four grandchildren, Sara, Shannon, Nicholas, Nicole; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, “Callie.”

A Celebration of Life will be noon Saturday, March 29, at the Northwood School in Minong. A gathering precedes the celebration 10 a.m. to noon at the school. Pastor Darrell Grant will officiate.
