The public has an opportunity to question candidates vying for office at a forum in Superior.
The Superior Federation of Labor is sponsoring the forum featuring candidates in contested races for city council and county board races. School board candidates are also invited.
Jim Mattson, vice president of the Federation, moderates and entertains spontaneous questions from the audience.
All four city council candidates have accepted. Tom Quick and Dan Olson are vying for the 1st District seat representing South Superior. Kevin Norbie and Warren Bender vying for the 3rd District seat.
Those seeking seats on the county board and planning to attend include Jeff Isackson and Ed Gallagher in the 4th District; Gil Davidson and Lew Martin, 8th District; James O’Brien and Jim Paine, 14th District; Carol Johnson, 26th District; and Mary Lou Bergman, 28th District. Bergman is challenging incumbent George Graven.
Patrick Dorin and John Hendricks have agreed to attend as school board candidates, even though they have no opposition. In light of recent possible development of a foreign language immersion school and the district’s pension liability debt, the public may have many questions to ask of them. They start the program at 11 a.m.
The forum runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Superior Public Library
