Elma Jensen, 90, longtime Iron River area resident, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, in the Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. She was born March 2, 1917, in Oulu, to John and Mary Maki.
She was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Iron River and its Women’s Missionary Group. Elma was well known for her baking and sewing.
Elma is survived by one daughter, Dorothy (Richard Greguire) Drake, Wittenberg; Wis.; two sons, Don (Bev) Jensen, Mosinee, and Byron (Rose) Jensen, Iron River; nine grandchildren, Kathy Jensen, Debbie Tomlinson, Dale (Michelle) Drake, Scott Drake, Scott (Lina) Jensen, Shawn (Jennifer) Jensen, Sheila (Scott) Wenzel, Mandy (Frank) Juresh III and Brandt (Amanda) Jensen; many great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Jane Jensen, San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, one son, Clifford Jensen, four sisters, Esther Silvola, Ellen Saaski, Elsie Pyykola and a sister, Lempi, in Finland, and two brothers, Eino and Elmer Maki.
Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday in Grace Baptist Church, Iron River, and continues at 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. funeral service also in the church. Pastor Joseph Brygger and Pastor Tom Blomberg will co-officiate.
Burial will be in the Iron River City Cemetery at a later date.
Pallbearers for the service will be Mark Pihle, Larry Exford, George Goetsch, Eddie Burhans, Clyde Pyykola and Lee Pederson.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
