YOUTH: SMS archery takes first
The Superior Middle School archery team took first place in the third annual National Archery in the Schools Program
The Superior Middle School archery team took first place in the third annual National Archery in the Schools Program state tournament Monday.
About 450 students from throughout the state competed in the tournament in Wisconsin Rapids.
Some highlights from the seventh and eighth grade middle school tournament include:
• Sabrina Schnell took first place in the Girls Middle School Division.
• Alisha Moran, Jillisa Galindo, Mickayla Lindberg and Rachel Fregin round out the rest of the top five SMS girl finishers.
• Ryan Winkler, Dylan Beckwell, Andrew Eisenmann, Matt Vengrin, Dallas Jacobs, Sterling Szymonowicz and Mason Stein led the SMS boys in scoring.
The SMS sixth grade elementary team took second place at the tournament.
The top five girl finishers on SMS’s elementary team were Justine Stenberg, Lauren Cooper, Tatianna Barton-Dickson, Melanie Erickson and Tina Lurndahl. The top boy finishers were Carter Anderson, Jacob Jaques, Eric Rasmussen, Zach Schnell, Adam Rasmussen, Alek Stankey and Dustin Jenny.
