Two men, at least one armed with a handgun, attempted to rob the Triple G Gas Station in Cable on Monday evening.

The two entered the station about 9 p.m.; one displayed a handgun and demanded that the clerk give him the store’s money, the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office said. The clerk responded that she did not have access to the money. The two men then left.

One of the men is described as white and about 20 years old. The other is also believed to be about 20, but because of a wrap of some kind around his face his race is unknown.

Direction of travel and a vehicle description is unknown. However, people in the area noted a full-size black pickup with dual rear tires parked a short distance from the business shortly before the attempted robbery. That vehicle was not parked in the same location after the event. It is not known if there is any connection between the suspects and vehicle.

Both Douglas and Washburn county sheriffs' offices have reported similar events in the last few days. It is unknown if these robberies and attempted robberies are connected. The case remains under investigation.
