She was born to Bob and Nancy Opheim in Duluth on April 4, 1952. Peggy attended Irving school and West Junior, graduating from Denfeld High in 1970. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where she met the love of her life, Paul Guello.
Throughout her very full and happy life, Peggy worked at Spirit Mountain, Northwestern Bell, The Federal Building, Woolworth’s, Fingerhut, and the Italian Village. She was active in 4-H and was a gifted artist. Peggy’s talent in drawing, painting, sculpting, jewelry, stained glass and beading was surpassed by none. Being the mother of Michael, Jacob and Katie was every breath she took and every smile on her face.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Mike and Sylvia Gannucci and Conrad and Marie Opheim; and her infant son, Daniel Benjamin.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul; children, Michael, Jacob and Katie; mother, Nancy Opheim; brothers, Bob and Jerry Opheim of Duluth, and Chris Opheim of Superior; sisters, Connie (David) O’Shaughnessy of Barnes, Terrie (Philip) Monson and Lisa (Terry) Hinnenkamp of Duluth; and many other family members.
Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church, 715 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth, with the Rev. Charles Flynn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.
