Adults who know some community-minded youngsters who should get some recognition have the chance to nominate local volunteers for a national scholarship.
Kohl’s Department Stores is collecting nominations for its annual Kids Who Care Scholarship Program.
Through the program, the store has awarded about 7,000 scholarships and prizes totaling more than $1.5 million to youth volunteers nationwide since 2001.
This year, Kohl’s plans to award another 1,900 kids ages 6-18 with $300,000 in scholarships and prizes. Awards range from $50 to $5,000.
Two nominees from each of Kohl’s 929 stores will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card and 190 volunteers win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education.
Ten volunteers earn national recognition and a $5,000 scholarship. Kohl’s will also contribute $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on behalf of each national winner.
