Newspapers tend to struggle with how to handle political endorsements. With a major announcement expected in Superior this afternoon, Daily Telegram editors have established a policy for current and future elections.
Candidate endorsements are strictly one person’s opinion. As such, we will list them briefly in a short column on the Region Page. Additional space will be provided on the Opinion page if endorsements are submitted as letters to the editor.
We will not assign staff to cover political endorsements. Small newspapers have limited resources. Assigning reporters to cover endorsements is not a productive use of our personnel.
