Baker helps SHS girls cook up win over Oredockers

The Superior High School girls hockey team defeated the Ashland Oredockers 10-2 Tuesday night at the Superior Ice Arena.

The Spartans got three goals and an assist from Aleeha Baker, two goals and an assist from Amanda LeBard, two goals from Ashlee Olson, a goal and an assist from Ashley Martin, a goal each from Alayna Moe and Jenna Martin and assists from Emily Eisenmann, Jessica DeVinck and Cassie Berg.

Superior, now 6-12-1 on the season, also got 11 saves from Janine Seifert.

Superior led 5-0 after one period.

Ashland’s first goal came 29 seconds into the second period off the stick of Lynzie Thorp.

The Spartans scored the next four goals until Ashland’s Kaleigh Spickerman scored at 12:19 of the third period.

Jenna Martin completed the game’s scoring with an unassisted goal with 46 seconds remaining in the game.

The Spartans will host Senior Day when they wrap up the regular season by hosting New Richmond at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

SHS seniors include: Anna Pettingill, Amanda Baker, Ashley Martin, LeBard, Megan Atkinson, Olson, Chelsey Jarzin, DeVinck and Seifert.

The Spartans will also host Tomahawk at 6 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the opening round of the WIAA playoffs.
