The Superior Police Department is again offering its Citizens’ Police Academy starting March 26.
The Superior Police Department is again offering its Citizens’ Police Academy starting March 26.
The eight-week, nine-session program offers residents information on a variety of law enforcement topics and hands-on experience about police work in Superior.
Police officers, evidence technicians, supervisors and detectives with the department become teachers to give the community a better understanding of the nature of police work. It’s not what you see on TV.
Classes run 6-10 p.m. each Wednesday with one session Saturday morning.
The academy is free, but space is limited to 25 people. Candidates for the program must live or work in Superior, be at least age 21, pass a basic background check and have no prior felony convictions of habitual violations. The deadline to apply is March 5.
Applications are available at the police reception desk, online at www.ci.superior.wi.us/police or call 395-7450 to have one mailed to you.
