Rosburg shatters own record in mile

Katee Rosburg, a junior from Superior, led the University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s track and field team at the Blizzard Open by smashing her own record in the mile by over 8 seconds, with a time of 5:11.6.

The Blizzard Open was hosted by UWS Saturday at the Health & Wellness Center.

Other top performances of the day for the Yellowjackets include the women’s 4x200-meter relay winning the event in 1:53.12 with team members Jenna Halverson, Superior’s Nikki Landin, Megan Belger and Audrey Karbowski.

Later in the day, Jenna Halverson came back to finish second in the 800 meters in 2:25.93.

Multi-event athlete Nancy Hudack had a busy day in earning a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15-feet-111?2 inches, and a pair of third places in the 60 hurdles (10.13) and the 500 meters (1:26.71).

Megan Belger added a couple of third place finishes to her 4x200 relay victory, in both the 300 meters (44.75) and triple jump (30-11) and Superior’s Shelley Balcer finished fourth in the pole vault with her best height of the season at 9- 61?4.

For the UWS men, freshman Grady Milesko won the long jump competition with a leap of 21- 81?4 and broke his own school record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.19

Joey Driscoll, a freshman from Duluth, was second in the 400 meters with a time of 54.29; senior, Lee Sims ran a seasonal-best time in the 800 meters of 1:58.55 for third place; and Jason Lindelof earned a third-place finish in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:00.59.

The UWS men’ and women’s track team will compete in Saturday’s Warren Bowlus Invite at UW-Stout.
