SENIOR: People living alone find comfort from Tele-Care volunteersAs people age, one of the fears they have is that no one will find them if they become ill or incapacitated while living alone.
As people age, one of the fears they have is that no one will find them if they become ill or incapacitated while living alone.
To alleviate that fear, the Auxiliary Board of St. Mary’s Hospital of Superior offers a free community service. Tele-Care features daily telephone contact between a volunteer and individuals, primarily older adults, who may be frail, homebound, ill, lonely or disabled, and live alone.
The program has been around for many years and was provided by the auxiliary of the former Superior Memorial Hospital. Anyone who cares about someone living alone can arrange the service.
A registration form can be obtained by writing the Tele-Care Office, St. Mary’s Hospital of Superior Auxiliary, 3500 Tower Ave., Superior, WI. 54880 or by calling 395-5400, ext. 7109.
