THURSDAY, SUPERIOR — Paul Metzger, Tim Kaiser and the cosmic pit orchestra are joining forces at 8 p.m. at the Red Mug Coffeehouse at Hammond Avenue and Broadway Street as part of a free monthly experimental music series.

THURSDAY, MORGAN PARK — Author Arnold Alanen’s book, “Morgan Park: Duluth, US. Steel, and the Forging of a Company Town,” covers the history of the community. That history is being celebrated at the United Protestant Church, 88th Ave. W. and Arbor St., with a book signing and presentation at 7 p.m. Free.
