A 25-year-old man from Duluth was arrested in suburban Milwaukee last week and was charged Tuesday with second-degree sexual assault of a child, a felony in Wisconsin.

According to court documents, Luke D. Hamman of Duluth was charged in Milwaukee County after being arrested Oct. 19.

The court documents didn’t provide details, but the Patch news website covering the suburb of Oak Creek reported that Hamman is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl he met online. According to the report, the girl told police she had been e-mailing Hamman beginning in September. On Oct. 18, he reportedly told her he loved her and was coming to visit her at her home.

The Patch said Hamman had been reported missing to the Duluth Police Department and a subsequent search of his computer showed the tie to the girl in Wisconsin. Oak Creek police went to the girl’s home and found Hamman hiding in the girl’s bedroom, the report said. Both admitted to police that they had been sexually active with each other, the Patch reported from police records.

Hamman is being held in Milwaukee County jail and is facing a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
