RUNNING: Davis claims Birkebeiner Trail Marathon

Wynn Davis, 31, of Stillwater, Minn., led a field of 117 runners Saturday to win the American Birkebeiner Trail Marathon in 2 hours, 45 minutes, 4 seconds. Jan Guenther, 53, of Mound, Minn., was first in the women’s division in 3:39:48.

In an accompanying half-marathon, Ryan Ping, 36, of Winona, Minn., was first overall in a field of 210 in 1:21:28 and Megan Ping, 35, led the women in 1:36:58. The runners-up were Duluthians Adam Swank, 37, in 1:21:46 and Tiffany Carlson, 32, in 1:37:27.
