One killed, two injured in Northwestern Wisconsin crash

One person was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash in Washburn County on Friday night.

One person was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash in Washburn County on Friday night.

The Wisconsin State Patrol reported that the accident occurred just before 9 p.m. at the U.S. Highway 53-Wisconsin Highway 70 interchange near Spooner. A 2012 Dodge van was southbound on Highway 53 and exited at Highway 70. At the top of the exit ramp, the van pulled into the path of a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling westbound on Highway 70. The van was struck on the driver's side.

The names, ages and hometowns of the victims have not yet been released. The Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.

Emergency crews were on the scene for nearly four hours. Other agencies responding included the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, North Ambulance, and the Spooner and Shell Lake police departments.
