On Sunday, a retired pastor from Two Harbors celebrated his 83rd birthday by skydiving in Superior. He had perfect visual flight rules conditions for his airplane ride and jump due to a large ridge of high pressure settling in.

That ridge will affect us today and for several days in a sunny way. Today should be mostly sunny, and the winds will be northwesterly from 5-10 mph. Temperatures will be in the 70s for most of us, ranging from 73 by Lake Superior to 79 for inland areas. Sawyer County in Wisconsin has the best chance of cracking 80. The dew point will be in the mid-50s, so it should be a comfortable day.

The high-pressure system will last until Thursday. After that, a few rain chances will try to creep in on Friday and Saturday.

Those will give way to more sun on Sunday.

Five-day forecast

Today: Mostly sunny, with high 76 and low 52

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with high 74 and low 60

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with high 76 and low 62

Thursday: Partly cloudy, with high 81 and low 60

Friday: Partly sunny, with 30 percent rain chance, with high 78 and low 56
