Superior man dies after hit-and-run crash in Superior

A 61-year-old man died after being struck by a car in Superior on Friday night, and police are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

A 61-year-old man died after being struck by a car in Superior on Friday night, and police are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

Superior Police reported that the victim, who is from Superior, was walking at the corner of Broadway Street and Hughitt Avenue on the city’s north side about 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a passing car. The car did not stop, continuing westbound on Broadway for several blocks before turning south on Banks Avenue, police said.

The man died from his injuries. His name had not been released as of Saturday evening, pending notification of relatives.

The car is described as a dark-colored, four-door sedan similar to a mid-1990s Lincoln Continental. It is likely to have damage to its grille, hood and possibly its windshield, police said.
