Got a great concept for a technology business? Serious about starting it in Northwestern Wisconsin?

Then you should consider entering the Business Idea Contest that will be part of the Lake Superior Business and Technology Conference scheduled for Aug. 3 in Ashland.

The top three finishers will win cash prizes — first place, $2,500; second place, 1,500; third place, $1,000 — and assistance from a local economic development group to get started.

Applications require short business, market and financial summaries, which are due Saturday. To get an application, visit bayfieldcountyedc.com or call (715) 373-6104 ext. 254.

A panel will choose 12 finalists who will present their business proposals in two minutes to the five-judge panel at the conference at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland. The three winners will then be conference presenters.

Applicants must be Wisconsin residents, at least 18 years old, who intend to establish their businesses in Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas or Iron counties in Wisconsin. There is no limit on the number of ideas submitted but they must be original and unique. Inventors are encouraged to apply.
